The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) received $50 million in stimulus act spending for information technology systems through September 30, 2010.
The VA hopes that, with the IT upgrades, it will be better equipped to provide education and vocational training benefits to veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and that it can process the claims of all veterans more quickly and accurately.
In the end, the VA is trying to see that all veterans have better access to benefits with improved Internet-based information and claims processing in a “paperless” operation.
