Federal Government Funds

Congress set aside 0.5%, or $20 million, of the $4 billion granted to the Public and Indian Housing’s Public Housing Capital Fund to support the department’s overhead operations, including technology expenditures.

To support technology-related and other overhead expenses, the same percentage allocation, representing $7.5 million, was included in the $1.5 billion for the Homelessness Prevention Fund. Similarly, $2.55 million out of the $510 million allocated for Native American Housing Block Grants and $500,000 out of $100 million for the Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes program was set aside for these expenditures.

Out of the $1 billion designated for the Community Development Fund of the Community Planning and Development arm of HUD, a 1% share, or $10 million, was set aside for technology-related and other overhead expenses. Likewise, Congress earmarked another $2.5 million from the $250 million for the Assisted Housing Energy and Green Retrofit program for such spending.
