Invest in What Works and Innovation Fund

U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) will also reserve $650 million for competitive grants that it will award to school districts and nonprofit groups with “a strong track record of results.” The goal is to help institutions and organizations that have made progress in closing the achievement gap to serve as models for others and to extend the scope of their work. The grants will also seek to promote partnerships between schools and the private sector and philanthropies, and to identify best practices that can be used by others.
The department expects to award the grants in two rounds, one in the fall of 2009 and the other in the spring of 2010. The department will be posting additional details when they are ready. In the meantime, click here to review the language of the stimulus act about this grant program.
