“What we hope to see with the Latitude 2100s in the classrooms is a higher level of real-life collaboration, which will translate to a higher level of thinking and higher-level skills. Success on the end of these results will just be the cherry on top.”

— Rich Laffey, dean of students at Dubiski, Grand Prairie Independent School District, United States

Administrators at a new career and technology high school wanted to make laptops available to all of their students. The laptops had to support their innovative curricula and learning environment and integrate well with other academic software.

After comparing netbook offerings from four vendors, the district chose Dell™ Latitude™ 2100 netbooks with Intel® Atom™ processors.

By working with Dell, Grand Prairie ISD realized the following benefits:

• Dell quality and support enable 1,200 netbooks to be added with no additional repair or support staff.
• 40 additional minutes in instruction time per teacher, per day reclaimed.
• Five technician days per month saved by having computer science students perform warranty service on Dell netbooks.
• Online assignments, homework submissions and reading assignments support school’s paperless initiative.
• 25 percent cost savings realized by providing digital library books versus physical books.
