  • How to Place an Order Online

    Placing an order on Dell.com is easy — just read the steps below for more information:

    Select and Customize the Product You Want to Order
    Visit the Shop pages to select the product you want to purchase. Most Dell™ systems can be customized to suit you. When you have completed customization, simply press the Add to Cart button.

    Check the Cart Summary
    From the Cart Summary page, you can click on Continue Shopping if you want to add other items to your cart, or you can click the Checkout button to start placing the order. Please take a moment to review all the items you have placed in your cart before you click the Checkout button.

    Choose Your Preferred Checkout Method
    If you already have an account with Dell, we recommend that you use Sign In to My Account and check out in one easy step. If you are new to Dell, you can either choose Register and Checkout or Guest Checkout. We recommend that our new customers choose the Register and Checkout option to get dedicated support options online.

    Enter a Shipping Address
    Tell us where you would like your order to be delivered. Please provide an address where someone will be available on the day of delivery, because the carrier may require a signature. As soon as you submit your order‚ the delivery address is verified. After the address is verified, we can no longer change it at a later stage.

    You can also choose the Delivery Method for your order, considering how fast you want your order to be delivered after it ships. The Delivery option only affects the time it takes for your order to be delivered after it is sent for delivery. It does not include the time it takes us to process your order and have it built/prepared for delivery.

    Select a Payment Method
    We offer the following ways to pay for your Dell equipment:

    • Credit card (American Express, Visa, MasterCard and Discover)
    • PayPal account (for online orders only)
    • Dell Preferred Account (personal line of credit)
    Review and Submit Order
    Check the accuracy of all the information you provided and make sure you have included everything you need, because we cannot make any changes or additions after you submit your order. When you are ready, click the Submit Order button.


    What’s Next?

    After you place your order, we will send you an email response that acknowledges the receipt or confirmation of your order within one business day. This email includes your order details, order number, customer number and the estimated delivery date. If we need further clarification about your order, an online sales representative will contact you within one to three business days after you place your order.

  • Delivery Estimates

    After placing your order, you will see your estimated delivery date. The delivery date is based on the equipment you ordered, the payment method (credit/debit card, Dell preferred account or others) you selected and the delivery option you chose.

    You will learn about the estimated delivery date by email after you have placed your order. It is also visible on My Order Status. The estimated delivery date is our best guess at when your order will arrive. After your order status shows the Shipped message, you can use the tracking information provided and consult the carrier for any questions about the actual delivery.

    If an unexpected delay occurs while processing or assembling your order, we will immediately contact you by email or phone for a new estimated delivery date. If we don’t contact you, do not be concerned — it only means your order is on track.

  • Emails About Your Order

    We usually communicate by email to keep you informed about the progress of your order. That’s why we recommend that, when placing your order, you provide Dell with an email address that you check regularly.

    Below are examples of emails we send:

    Order Confirmation — Informs you that we have successfully received your order, and that it is being processed. This email contains all the information about your order, your customer number, your purchase reference number (DPID), your order number and the estimated delivery date for each item you ordered.

    Order Shipped — Informs you that your order or part of your order has been handed over to the carrier for delivery. This email contains tracking and delivery information for the shipped items. You may receive multiple Order Shipped emails if you ordered multiple items that were shipped separately.

    Other Emails About Your Order — If there is a problem with your order or if we need to communicate with you about a delay, we will email you, so don’t forget to check your email. If we don’t contact you, do not be concerned — it means your order is on track.

  • What Are the Delivery Options?

    When you place your order, you can choose from the following delivery options. Each option differs in cost and in speed of delivery. Here are your options:

    • Next-business-day delivery (fastest delivery option): Your order will be delivered on the next business day after it is shipped from Manufacturing, not from the time your order was placed.
    • Second-business-day delivery (fast delivery): Your order will be delivered two business days after it is shipped from Manufacturing, not from the time your order was placed.
    • Three-to-five-day delivery (economy delivery): Your order will be delivered three to five business days after it is shipped from Manufacturing, not from the time your order was placed.
    • Seven-day delivery (standard delivery option): Your order will be delivered five to seven business days after it is shipped from Manufacturing, not from the time your order was placed.
    Please note: HDTVs are delivered 5-7 business days after your order is built and shipped from Manufacturing, not from the time your order was placed.

  • How to receive emails from the Dell Software Download Store

    Check to see if the email is in your junk email or spam folder. Always be certain to add dds_ecomm_ltg@dell.com as a contact so that you receive any future emails.

    If you did not receive your confirmation email with directions on how to access your "My Locker" account, please send an inquiry via email to dds_ecomm_ltg@dell.com. Include your email address, first and last name and date of your order. An application for financing or an issue with your payment may delay your order. We will process it as soon as those delays are resolved.

    Unfortunately, we are not able to help you with payment issues. You will need to contact your Dell Financial Support team by email or call 1-800-283-2210 Mon-Fri 7am -8pm CST.
