  • Check Your Order Status

    It’s easy to check on the status of your order online by simply clicking on My Order Status.

    You will be prompted to enter a Dell reference number and a verification reference.

    My Order Status is the easiest and fastest way to see the latest status of your order, as well as the estimated delivery date and tracking information for your shipped items.

    Please note: Your order information may not appear online immediately after you place an order. It may take up to 24 hours for your order to appear.

  • Meaning of Order Status Terms

    Order Processing — This means we have received your order and we are processing payment. If we need more information about your payment or your delivery address, we will contact you by email or phone. If we don't contact you, please do not be concerned.

    In Production — This means your order is being prepared for shipping. It could take from one to 10 days to prepare an order for shipping, depending on what you ordered and item availability. If your order is in this status for some time, but your estimated delivery date has not yet passed, please do not be concerned.

    Shipped — This means your order has been shipped using the delivery method you selected, and is now in transit with the carrier. A link to track delivery of your order will become available on My Order Status within 48 hours. For tracking information read the Shipping & Delivery section.

    Canceled — This means your order has been canceled at your request or because of a problem (reasons vary). Canceled orders cannot be reprocessed. If you would like to reorder, click here or contact our sales team.

  • Delivery Estimates

    After placing your order, you will see your estimated delivery date. The delivery date is based on the equipment you ordered, the payment method (credit/debit card, Dell preferred account or others) you selected and the delivery option you chose.

    You will learn about the estimated delivery date by email after you have placed your order. It is also visible on My Order Status. The estimated delivery date is our best guess at when your order will arrive. After your order status shows the Shipped message, you can use the tracking information provided and consult the carrier for any questions about the actual delivery.

    If an unexpected delay occurs while processing or assembling your order, we will immediately contact you by email or phone for a new estimated delivery date. If we don’t contact you, do not be concerned — it only means your order is on track.

  • Delayed Orders

    When you place your order, we provide an estimated delivery date. This date is based on what you order, how you pay and the delivery option you choose. Read the Delivery Estimates topic for more details on estimated delivery dates.

    Sometimes a delay can occur after you submit your order. If that happens, we’ll send you an email titled Order Delayed, which will contain the new estimated delivery date. This new date will also be updated on My Order Status

    If we don’t contact you, and the estimated delivery date has not passed, it means that your order is on track, so  do not be concerned.

  • Emails About Your Order

    We usually communicate by email to keep you informed about the progress of your order. That’s why we recommend that, when placing your order, you provide Dell with an email address that you check regularly.

    Below are examples of emails we send:

    Order Confirmation — Informs you that we have successfully received your order, and that it is being processed. This email contains all the information about your order, your customer number, your purchase reference number (DPID), your order number and the estimated delivery date for each item you ordered.

    Order Shipped — Informs you that your order or part of your order has been handed over to the carrier for delivery. This email contains tracking and delivery information for the shipped items. You may receive multiple Order Shipped emails if you ordered multiple items that were shipped separately.

    Other Emails About Your Order — If there is a problem with your order or if we need to communicate with you about a delay, we will email you, so don’t forget to check your email. If we don’t contact you, do not be concerned — it means your order is on track.

  • Order Held for Payment

    If you receive an Order Held email, it means that we couldn’t obtain authorization to process payment for your order. To protect your security and privacy, your card issuer cannot provide information about why your payment was declined. Because of this, you most likely need to contact your card issuer directly to solve most payment issues.

    It is not unusual for this to happen, and the most common reasons are listed below:

    • Card issuers may flag any unexpected activity on your account, like online orders or high value purchases, regardless of the amount of funds available; they will require your verbal authorization.
    • Cards have limits on how much money can be charged or accessed in a single day. Regardless of available funds in the account, your card issuer may require you to request a higher purchase limit to complete the transaction.

    If you receive an email titled Order Held, please contact your card issuer and follow the email instructions. After the payment issue is resolved, we’ll send you an email titled Order Being Processed.

  • Find or Retrieve Your Dell Reference Numbers

    Your Dell™ reference numbers are on the Order Confirmation email you will receive within one business day after you order. See what the reference numbers look like by clicking here.

    You can also retrieve your Dell reference numbers online by using the Order Lookup Tool. Use search
    option 2, enter your billing information and click on Search.

    If you ordered by phone and did not receive an Order Confirmation email within 24 hours, contact the sales person who assisted you with your order.
