As vice president and general manager of Dell Healthcare & Life Sciences, Jamie Coffin co-leads teams in developing the latest innovative information technology and services for healthcare with August Calhoun. Dr. Coffin and his team work closely with a wide variety of leaders in healthcare and life sciences, including medical centers and academic institutions, and leading biotech and pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Coffin sets the strategic direction of Dell’s solution strategy and works to pioneer Dell’s efforts to apply leading-edge information technology into areas like personalized medicine, claims processing, medical imaging and advanced pharmaceutical and biotech drug discovery. Prior to joining Dell, Dr. Coffin spent more than 12 years at IBM. Dr. Coffin has held a variety of positions including worldwide vice president of Healthcare & Life Sciences Solutions, where he built and managed a multi-billion dollar business. He also held positions as manager of Computational Chemistry in IBM Scientific and Technical Solutions Group, and spent four years as the marketing manager for Scientific and Technical Computing for IBM Education leading IBM’s efforts in high-performance computing in the university and government research marketplace. Prior to joining IBM, he was considered a leader in the application of computational chemistry techniques and high-performance computing to real world chemical and biological problems.
