Join the Plant a Tree Program

The benefits of trees are undeniable. Not only do they absorb greenhouse gas emissions, but they improve air quality, recycle water, create shade, and provide food and homes for living things across the planet. The simple act of planting trees helps sustain our communities and the environment in countless ways.
About the Program
The Plant a Tree program allows you and your business to offset the carbon dioxide emissions related to the use of your product by helping to regrow and protect forests. Dell has partnered with experts at The Conservation Fund and Carbonfund.org to make it easy for you to participate in a program that makes a real difference. Progress takes time, but the impact is long-term and far-reaching.
Here's how it works: Our partners are constantly working to identify and secure lands that were forested in the past but are now in great need of conservation and restoration. Plantings take place only on protected areas that can never be developed or harvested for timber. Because the geography of each site determines which month is best for putting seedlings into the ground, plantings take place at various times throughout the year. Currently, all Plant a Tree sites are in the U.S., Canada and Central America, but we hope to expand the program's scope.
Projects in Action
Take a look at one of the projects funded by our Plant a Tree donations: The Tensas River Reforestation Project is restoring native hardwood forests to a region in Northeastern Louisiana that was once covered by a dense forest. The area used to be the habitat for an estimated 400 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish — including endangered/threatened species, such as the Louisiana black bear and the Florida panther. This project will eventually sequester nearly 450,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions and restore the native forest to 2,000 acres — an area twice the size of New York City's Central Park. The project will also help improve the local water supply.
Plant a Tree donations helped fund another project along river corridors in Kansas to restore 776 acres — more than 650 football fields — with native oak and hickory trees. As the forest matures, it is expected to trap an estimated 260,500 metric tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, which is equivalent to taking approximately 47,000 cars off the road.
