Double-Take Software Licensing Program

Double-Take^® software is licensed per server based on the OS (Windows Server^® Enterprise requires Double-Take for Windows Server Enterprise), regardless of application, method of failover and so on.

Installing Double-Take inside a virtual machine requires a minimum purchase of one five-pack license. (Note: A standard Double-Take license can be installed inside a virtual machine.) There are no add-on options to Double-Take software. Its benefits include:

• Support and maintenance — All Double-Take products are bundled with media and one-year support/maintenance. You can add up to two additional years for a total of three years.
• Bandwidth requirements — Double-Take replicates data at the I/O (input/output) level, so there is no more efficient way to replicate data. Double-Take also has the ability to compress data on the fly and the ability to throttle bandwidth (20 percent utilization during the day open up to 75 percent at night and 100 percent on the weekends), enabling Double-Take to be in as near real-time as possible without saturating the network with replication traffic.

Double-Take is totally hardware-agnostic, and can replicate and failover from P2V, V2P and X2X, regardless of storage solutions, such as Internet SCSI (iSCSI), Fiber Channel storage area network (SAN), direct attached storage (DAS) and serial attached SCSI (SAS). Double-Take is host-based and does not require a dedicated server.
