Dell Precision T5500XL (Extended Life) Workstation
The Precision T5500XL (Extended Life) Workstation
Many manufacturers need a cutting-edge system to power their products:
— Security and surveillance vendors require large amounts of localized storage.
— Healthcare vendors need storage and parallel processing capabilities.
— Modeling and CAD systems need to have certified graphics options.
Yet, usually the requirement to use the latest technology also brings volatility to a product. Components may be updated more often than desired, resulting in additional requalification cycles. Product life cycles can be relatively short, making certification impractical.
To meet the needs of these special customers, Dell has created a special workstation, the Dell Precision™ T5500XL. Dell locks down the components of the T5500XL for longer availability to reduce midcycle requalification. When critical components are updated, customers are notified in advance. For the customers with qualification time of more than 9 months, we ensure that our T5500XL life cycle will allow for a 12-month overlap with its replacement platform.
An example: Siemens Healthcare
One of the largest suppliers to the healthcare industry, Siemens, is now using the new Dell Precision™ T5500 extended life workstation to power its ACUSON SC2000™ volume imaging ultrasound system. Siemens selected the Dell extended life technology program based on Dell's ability to offer stable components and an extended life cycle on the Dell Precision T5500.
Why Siemens Chose Dell
Siemens wanted to use Dell’s global manufacturing and service teams as their own, repurposing development and support resources to work on other critical projects. By using the extended life cycle workstation, Siemens gets the technology they need with fewer changes and 12 months of additional product life. This lowers the recertification costs and avoids service-strategy updates that would be required to deal with unexpected component changes.
Benefits of Dell OEM Solutions Extended Life Product Family:
- Specific component options are selected to ensure a committed long-life span so that OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) can plan fewer qualification cycles.
- Changed management notifications for designated components are provided for customers at predetermined intervals
- By offering processor options from the Intel® embedded roadmap, a list of stable components, specific supplier agreements negotiated to support longer life on key components and increased hub-stocking levels to avoid supply disruption of single-source parts.
- All existing Dell warranty and global support services are included .
- Available with OEM ProSupport, including 24x7 global advanced technical support and field dispatch SLAs of hours.
