Dell Versus Sun Servers: PowerEdge R910 Performance Comparison

To compare the processor performance of the Dell™ PowerEdge™ R910 server to the Sun™ SPARC Enterprise M5000 and T5440 servers, Principled Technologies, Inc. used the SPECfp_rate_base2006 test of the industry-standard SPEC CPU2006 benchmark suite.

The Dell PowerEdge R910 server outperformed the Sun SPARC M5000 server by 121.1 percent, and the T5440 server by 89.8 percent. The results are as follows:

  • The Dell PowerEdge R910 server achieved a SPECfp_rate_base2006 score of 482.
  • The Sun SPARC Enterprise M5000 and T5440 servers achieved SPECfp_rate_base2005 scores of 218 and 254 respectively.
