Certain applications — such as graphics, video production, audio engineering and scientific research — tax CPUs much more than traditional office computing tasks. Dell Precision™ workstations offer four enhanced power modes designed to go beyond the three default Windows® options, which do not address the needs of some professionals.
- Pro Audio/Video mode reduces latency to four milliseconds or less by removing unnecessary background processes, letting users achieve real-time recording monitoring.
- Quiet mode keeps fan noise level below 3.5 sones, throttling the CPU if necessary to avoid overheating, thus ensuring a nondisruptive presence.
- Cool mode regulates CPU performance and fan speed to keep the surface temperature of the unit at or below acceptable levels — ideal for hot environments or lap computing.
- Ultra Performance mode enables fans to run at higher RPMs, letting processors run hotter for longer periods of time. This provides extra horsepower for all-out tasks like video rendering or number-crunching.
