How It Works
The vStart Implementation service goes well beyond carrying in the hardware rack, plugging it in and turning it on. The key steps of a typical vStart Implementation engagement include:
- Planning and project management: Dell experts evaluate your site's environmental and technical readiness, including dependencies and database requirements, and confirms the installation schedule.
- Design: Dell creates a system design to meet your specific requirements, including SAN storage allocation, network configuration and server resource allocation. You receive guidance on local area network and SAN security settings.
- Implementation and testing of the vStart solution: Your Dell technician installs and configures the vStart storage area network fabric and network switches.
- Implementation and testing of the virtual server environment: The technician installs, configures and tests your server hypervisor and virtual system management software.
- Product awareness: The technician conducts a brief product orientation session and reviews the associated product and services documentation with you.
- Project closeout: The technician removes packaging material and takes it to a nearby location designated by you or coordinates with you to remove it. You receive complete documentation of the services performed.
