YouthConnect Asia Partners

Dell YouthConnect has been helping students bridge the digital divide around the world. YouthConnect works with dozens of partners throughout China and India, bringing technology and learning opportunities to youth in those countries.Powering the Possible: Learning Asia Partners 

Partner Location Description 
China Education Development Foundation (CEDF) China Through their project-based learning program, CEDF created 50 ICT classrooms in seven provinces to connect rural and urban schools in a replicable and sustainable student-centered collaborative learning model. 
China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF) China The CYDF has been working with Dell to build 25 Dell Learning Centers (DLCs) in 15 different cities in China, to help migrant students learn computer skills. In addition, it runs Dell Cup robotics program in 10 DLCs, which teaches science and technology while enhancing students' creativity and confidence.

The Rural Education Action Project (REAP) China The Rural Education Action Project (REAP) is a collaboration between Stanford University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences that seeks to help vulnerable populations in China achieve their educational dreams. The goal of the Dell YouthConnect project is to deploy a high-quality Computer Assisted Learning (CAL) curriculum in China's rural boarding schools and measure the impact the program has on student achievement across 30 program intervention schools and 30 control schools. REAP will compare the changes in each group's scores over the course of the program to determine the program's effectiveness. 
Akshara Foundation India Akshara Foundation works with over 100 balwadis and 1,600 anganwadis to ensure that 40,000 children get a quality preschool education. Included under this grant, is the creation and distribution of new teaching materials, training workers in new preschool education methodologies, assessing learning outcomes and updating a database that tracks the children's progress into primary school.

Amar Jyoti India This organization works to provide equal opportunities to people who are differently abled. The Dell YouthConnect program will help facilitate distance learning and provide a database and research/resource center. In 2011, a technology upgrade will allow 400 youth to participate in ICT and employment skills training. 
American India Foundation India Dell supports The American India Foundation's signature program, Digital Equalizer, in 84 schools to provide 40,000 underserved youth with access to technology and empower them with 21st century skills. In addition, Dell will expand its support of Connected Classroom to 15 schools, creating a collaborative, technology-enabled learning environment for 6,000 students. 
Christel House India India Dell YouthConnect funds a middle school program, including integrating technology in standards-based instruction in the math and science program, impacting 252 children to date directly and 78 in the coming year.

Dream-a-Dream India Dream-a-Dream runs a technology center that serves as a space for life skills development and access to career opportunities for young adults from partner NGOs and the slum communities in Bangalore. It works to provide 600 young adults in Bangalore with transferable life skills leading to higher education and employment. 
Hope FoundationIndia The Hope Foundation will provide ICT training to young people through five community centers, impacting 4,000 students. In addition to basic computer and software training, online training in math, science, social studies, and basic English grammar and conversational skills will be provided. 
Humana India IndiaHumana People to People works to improve informal education and technology utilization for disadvantaged youth to support their entry into the mainstream educational system at the Dell YouthConnect study center in Gurgaon, which serves 530 youth, and through three smaller satellite centers located in adjoining slum areas, for children of 1st–3rd grades. 
Janaagraha India Janaagraha will provide uniquely designed citizenship education program to 4,500 children. The course is aimed at empowering children with the knowledge, skills and values necessary to develop a deep sense of ownership and responsibility toward their society. 
Learning Links India Learning Links provides students with digital literacy and a 21st century learning environment through its SCIMA digital enhancement program at 10 schools, focusing on math, science and technology education, and through explore@mywords, which reaches underserved children in 60 communities. This year, it will add citizenship education and entrepreneurship skills training to the offerings. A total of 21,000 children will be impacted. 
PlanetReadIndia PlanetRead uses same-language subtitling to encourage and support mass reading through 10 weekly TV programs in a number of languages. 
SETUIndia SETU provides underprivileged children in Nithari Village with a high standard of education that parallels top private schools. 
Sikshana Foundation India Sikshana, through well-tested management practices and innovative use of technology (giving each child a pen drive and having students share a laptop), is improving academic performance in areas such as reading, writing and computation. Dell YouthConnect supports activities in 165 schools. 
TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) India TERI’s Climate EduXchange will raise awareness about climate change among students across 10 states and engage them in research and activism through the use of ICT tools, including an interactive website that is rich in content and highly collaborative, and through six knowledge CDs.
