Dell’s Kayo Shroff Brings Hope to Those in Need with Viveka Trust
For Dell’s Kayomarz (Kayo) Shroff, community service is not just a one-day (or one-month) commitment. His great compassion for assisting people through trying times has been a driving force in the formation of Viveka Trust, a nongovernmental organization that offers free confidential counseling services and emotional support to all who enter its doors.
Every Monday evening for the past 12 years Kayo could be found at Viveka Trust (initially known as Vishwas). As a trained counselor and founding president, he has been the source of hope for many who battle abuse, grief and relationship issues and for those who contemplate suicide. It can be hard to help others through such difficult times week after week, but for Kayo, it’s about watching the positive changes his clients begin to make as a result of the time he spends with them.
The uplifting transformations that Kayo makes in the lives of so many are visible and real. This effect, he says, “is reward enough for my time. I often feel I have gained more than I give. Counseling, as a process, has taught me to be more accepting. My patience and tolerance have increased. [Counseling] also has helped me to gain a new perspective on life. Listening to the trials and tribulations of others has helped me realize all that I have to be grateful.”
Dell takes pride in knowing employees like Kayo who share the spirit of giving back to the communities where we live and work. Kayo’s enthusiasm and community leadership have inspired so many other employees to get involved, to answer a calling and make a positive difference by sharing their talents and time with those in need. In fact, three additional Dell employees have followed in his footsteps and joined Viveka as counselors.
Kayo's hope and compassion help others muddle through the not-so-good moments in life. It’s his focus on the light at the end of the tunnel — on despair that turns into happiness — that drives Kayo to continue his service.
Thank you, Kayo, for all you do!
