Linda Rottenberg helped define the word “entrepreneur”…literally. While living in Argentina in the mid-90s, she ran across a cab driver with a PhD in engineering and was baffled by the fact that this man was driving a cab due to a lack of jobs. Linda asked why he had not thought about starting his own business. Come to find out, there was no word for entrepreneur in Spanish or Portuguese, and no one really believed in the idea of self-made businesses in much of Latin America.
This spurred Linda to work to create Endeavor – a company focused on enabling entrepreneurs to succeed in emerging countries. Together with Dell, as a Global Advisory Board partner, and a host of Dell solutions for Endeavor and its clients, Linda is changing the way emerging countries think of business leadership. Through her tireless efforts, the words “empreenador” and “empreendedorismo” have been added to the Portuguese and Spanish dictionaries.
