Storage virtualization is the grouping of storage devices such that it seamlessly appears to be one large storage device. With storage virtualization , information can be intelligently managed; for example, data that is accessed less frequently can be moved to a slower device. Dell’s PowerEdge™ servers and PowerVault storage devices coupled with VMware provide a storage virtualization solution for Thinkwell that is proven, easily scalable/manageable, and energy efficient. “We don’t really look for custom solutions in our technology backbone that’s storing; we want something that’s very robust and very proven.
