| The Dell Women’s Entrepreneur Network (DWEN) event spotlights female entrepreneurial success and creates an atmosphere where women can connect with one another, share best practices, build business opportunities and recognize female influence in business and technology. DWEN Shanghai was a very successful pilot that served as a catalyst for Dell’s growing “Women Powering Business” movement and the expansion of the network community on LinkedIn. Supported by Endeavor and Ernst & Young Entrepreneurial Winning Women, Dell is working hard with our partners and women everywhere to inspire entrepreneurial collaboration. After holding successful events in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in June 2011, and our inaugural DWEN conference in Shanghai in June 2010, we’ve decided to take the conference to the cultural mecca of Delhi, India for our event, June 17-19, 2012. Sign up for our newsletter list to receive updates on DWEN 2012 and the Women Powering Business Network. |

With DWEN 2011 in Brazil, we expanded the invite-only event to over 100 attendees and tailored the agenda around the theme of 'Building the Power of Your Business.' Moira Forbes, president and publisher of Forbes Woman, was a very fitting emcee as both a media powerhouse and entrepreneur, and we look forward to continuing the relationship with Forbes Woman. Of the impressive lineup of female business executives, business icons, experts and thought leaders present at the conference, key speakers and panelists included Carley Roney, founder of The Knot; venture consultant Judith Clegg, founder and CEO of Venturing Unlimited and The Glasshouse; Leila Velez, president of the Brazilian beauty chain Beleza Naturals; Sarah Prevette, CEO of Sprouter and recent recipient of Inc.com’s 30 Under 30 honor; Neetu Bhatia, founder of KyaZoonga — India’s Ticketmaster; Amy Millman, president and cofounder of entrepreneur incubator Springboard Enterprises; and Reina Otsuka, founder and CEO of Ecotwaza, a leading eco-friendly Japanese product export company. Arianna Huffington joined the event via Skype for a spotlight interview, and Luiza Helena Trajano, founder of the third largest retail chain in Brazil, provided insight into doing business in Brazil. Thirty-seven top journalists from across the globe attended the June event, resulting in coverage in top-tier publications worldwide, including Fortune, USA Today, AllBusiness, My Business (Australia), O Globo Online (Brazil), Pequenas Empresas & Grandes Negócios (Brazil), Globe and Mail (Canada), L’Entreprise.com (France), Inc. India (India) and Fast Company (UK), among others. And the conversation in the social sphere was even larger with the hashtag #dwen receiving over 4K social media posts, reaching 16M+ people on Twitter, truly validating that Dell is the trusted advisor to women entrepreneurs — an underserved market by the tech industry. For additional highlights from DWEN Rio, photos and video clips are available on Dell’s flickr page. |
