Mobility and the Network

“Mobility” as a trend has changed dramatically in the past five years. Starting with the laptop and moving to business-owned devices, such as the RIM Blackberry®, mobility was initially seen as a relatively controlled, gradual movement that mirrored the growth of branch/remote offices and teleworking. For the most part, users would expect to connect to corporate networks and access corporate resources using a corporate device. With the advent of the consumer-owned smartphone and tablet, however, that paradigm has shifted radically.
